CONSULTING
In a creative industry that has changed so much within the past few years where do you go for the guidance you need to break out and truly become a successful professional?
Everywhere we turn there are always new photographers popping up in any given town trying their hardest to become a professional, even calling themselves professional without any regard as what it means to the skill level it takes to become a professional. The digital revolution has sparked the photo bug in half the population; people are leaving their well paid jobs to try their hand at the world of professional photography. Yet many fall flat. When we started photographing here in Gainesville there were only 7 portrait photographers, now there are over 40 and counting, coming and going.
Unfortunately, a local economy can only support so many photographers, otherwise the market becomes oversaturated. To be one of those few who can compete and be successful, you must stand out with your quality of work and many other attributes. Without any guidance you can surely get off to a bad start or go down a road that leads to nowhere; wasting time, energy and money. You must have many more skills than just how to operate a camera to be a professional. I have heard many lecturers in the photo business tell young photographers to "fake it until they make it." In my opinion this is the worst advice anyone can give a new business, however that is the master plan of most new studios. In a business where you have so many people thinking they are photographers, you must be creative, smart and have the constitution of an ox. You will also need a mentor/consultant, someone who knows this business and how to help you along, with everything from marketing, branding, technical photography and business planning. This is where we come in.
