Digital SLR Level 1
BRING: Digital-SLR camera, lens & manual, (laptop computer is optional)

Students will gain a solid understanding of their D-SLR cameras and photography in general. Each student will learn to use focus, depth of field, and exposure to attain the desired effect when making an image. Students will be introduced to the various digital camera modes and functions of each. All of the basic digital camera buttons and detailed instructions on which settings to use under various circumstances will be discussed. Basic pop up flash options will be discussed along with using existing light to capture images.

Photoshop Level 1
BRING: 10-15 RAW files (laptop computer is optional)

Digital image basics. In this course you will become familiar with a lot of what PhotoShop has to offer. Topics covered include tools, layers, B&W image conversion, color spaces, file resolutions, proper calibration and more. Each class session will consist of demonstrations of editing and manipulation techniques.

Instructor: Jeff Williams and Jules Keith-Le
We’ll begin by reviewing functions of the camera, and move on to processing files in a digital darkroom using Photoshop. Technical aspects covered include: RAW format shooting & processing, White Balance Control, Histograms, High Dynamic Range and a variety of other technical topics including backup options and file management. A basic understanding of digital SLR is a must in this class
